Terms & Conditions
Effective as of February 24, 2025 all clients are required to agree to the following:
These Terms and Conditions outline the agreement between the Client (referred to as "Client," "you," or "your") and On Point Pet Sitting and its employees or team members where applicable (referred to as "Service Provider," "we," "staff," or "our"). By engaging with our services, you accept and agree to comply with all these terms and conditions.
1. General Services
1.1 Our Commitment: On Point Pet Sitting provides professional pet care services, including dog walking, pet sitting, drop-in visits, nail trims, and other agreed-upon tasks. All services are delivered using humane, fear-free methods that avoid pain, intimidation, or punitive techniques.
1.2 Access Authorization: You grant On Point Pet Sitting, its employees, contractors, and representatives permission to enter your premises, as listed in your Time to Pet profile, to perform the agreed-upon services. If access issues require a locksmith, you agree to reimburse all associated costs within seven (7) days.
1.3 Home Security and Cleanliness: Clients must ensure the home is secure and clean before service begins. On Point Pet Sitting and its employees will make reasonable efforts to leave the premises in the same or better condition. We are not liable for damages caused by events outside our control, such as severe weather, emergencies, or unforeseen accidents.
1.4 Property Access & Maintenance: Clients agree to keep all access points to their property, including sidewalks, driveways, and walkways, clear and well-maintained to ensure safe entry and exit for On Point Pet Sitting employees, contractors, and representatives. This includes but is not limited to the removal of snow, ice, and other potential hazards. If the client is out of town during the service period, they agree to arrange for a third party to maintain these areas in their absence. Failure to do so may result in service cancellation at the discretion of On Point Pet Sitting, with no refund or credit provided. On Point Pet Sitting is not responsible for injuries sustained due to unsafe property conditions.
1.5 Necessary Supplies and Equipment: All required supplies must be provided by the Client. This includes but is not limited to:

Properly fitted collars, harnesses, and leashes.

Adequate pet food, water bowls, litter, litter boxes.

Medications in their original packaging with proper labels.

Cleaning supplies.
If any items need to be purchased during the service period, you agree to reimburse all expenses within seven (7) days of purchase.
1.6 Recording Device Disclosure: Clients must disclose the presence of any recording devices (including video cameras or audio recorders) in your home before service begins. Failure to disclose recording devices may result in immediate termination of services without a refund and could lead to legal action for privacy violations.
2. Pet Medical and Safety Provisions
2.1 Vaccination Requirements & Parasite Preventatives: All pets must have valid vaccinations and be on veterinarian-prescribed flea, tick, and lice prevention (when applicable). Proof of vaccination must be provided prior to service. Failure to provide proof will result in cancellation of services without a refund.
2.2 Health and Wellness: Pets in our care must be in good overall health, free of communicable illnesses, parasites (e.g., fleas), or conditions that may jeopardize the safety of other pets or staff. On Point Pet Sitting reserves the right to request a veterinarian’s clearance for pets showing signs of illness or to terminate services without a refund.
2.3 Emergency Veterinary Care: In case of a medical emergency, On Point Pet Sitting will attempt to contact you and your emergency contacts. If contact cannot be made promptly, we are authorized to seek veterinary care at the nearest facility. You are responsible for all related medical expenses.
2.4 Limitation of Authority: As we are not licensed veterinarians, On Point Pet Sitting is not authorized to diagnose or prescribe medications beyond basic first aid. The Client waives liability for any delays in seeking medical attention that may affect the pet’s condition.
2.5 Evacuation and Emergency Situations: In natural disasters or emergencies requiring evacuation, On Point Pet Sitting may evacuate pets. If you or your emergency contacts cannot assume care within 24 hours, we are authorized to arrange safe housing at your expense.
3. Employees & Independent Contractors
3.1 Employee & Contractor Authorization: Clients acknowledge that On Point Pet Sitting may assign employees or independent contractors to carry out pet care services. All employees and contractors are trained in humane, force-free handling and are held to the same standards as the business owner.
3.2 Client Interaction with Employees: Clients agree not to solicit or directly hire On Point Pet Sitting employees or contractors for pet care services outside of the company. Violation of this policy may result in termination of services and legal action.
3.3 Employee & Contractor Liability: While On Point Pet Sitting is responsible for the conduct of its employees and contractors, we are not liable for any personal interactions, engagements, or agreements made between clients and employees outside of our officially booked services.
4. Financial Obligations
4.1 Retainer and Payment Terms: To secure services, a 50% retainer must be paid within 24 hours of receiving an invoice. The remaining balance is due no later than seven (7) days before service commencement. Bookings made within seven (7) days of the service start date require full payment upfront. All retainers are non-refundable and non-transferable.
4.2 Returned Payments: A $25 fee, in addition to any bank fees, will be applied for returned checks or declined credit card transactions.
4.3 Goods and Services Tax (GST): All invoices issued by On Point Pet Sitting are subject to Goods and Services Tax (GST) as required by law. The GST amount will be calculated based on the total cost of services provided and will be clearly itemized on each invoice. On Point Pet Sitting’s GST registration number is 73960 7158. The Client agrees to pay the GST amount alongside the service fees as stated on the invoice. Failure to remit the total amount, including GST, by the due date may result in penalties or service interruptions.
4.4 Refunds and Credit Policy: Refunds will not be issued in the form of monetary reimbursement. Instead, any eligible refunds will be provided as credits applied to the client's account. These credits can be used toward future services offered by On Point Pet Sitting and must be used within one (1) calendar year.
5. Liabilities & waivers
5.1 Property and Personal Liability: On Point Pet Sitting is not liable for property damage, burglary, or theft while services are being rendered. You release and discharge On Point Pet Sitting and its staff from all liability and damages arising from incidents involving third parties or animals while in our care, unless direct damages are caused by our actions or negligence.
5.2 Waiver of Liability: By signing this Agreement, the Client waives any claims against On Point Pet Sitting and its employees for injuries, health issues, or other incidents resulting from known conditions disclosed at the commencement of services. On Point Pet Sitting retains the right to terminate services if the pet’s condition or behavior compromises the safety of the pet or others.
5.3 Transportation Waiver: The Client acknowledges and agrees that On Point Pet Sitting may transport pets in a vehicle when required for the agreed upon services. Permission will be sought before any non-emergency transportation. However, in emergencies where the Client or emergency contacts cannot be reached, On Point Pet Sitting is authorized to transport pets to ensure their safety or well being. The Client agrees to waive liability for risks associated with transportation, except in cases of gross negligence.
5.4 Responsibility for Damages: The Client is responsible for damages caused by their pet(s) to property, employees, or third parties. This includes, but is not limited to, damage to furniture, flooring, equipment, or landscaping. Should your pets cause damage to any of On Point Pet Sitting’s property, you agree to reimburse On Point for the damages caused upon receipt within seven (7) days. If a pet injures an On Point Pet Sitting employee, the Client may be held liable for medical expenses and lost wages.
6. Time to Pet
6.1 Limitation of Liability: While On Point Pet Sitting selects reputable and secure service providers, it is not responsible for any data breaches, hacking incidents, or unauthorized access that may occur within the Time to Pet platform. Clients are encouraged to review Time to Pet’s privacy and security policies for further information.
6.2 Data Protection Assurance: On Point Pet Sitting is committed to protecting your personal information. We ensure that all data handled through Time to Pet is secured using industry standard encryption and security measures. However, we advise clients to take necessary precautions, such as using strong passwords and regularly updating their login credentials.
6.3 Profile Accuracy: Clients agree to maintain accurate and up-to-date information in their Time to Pet profiles to the best of their knowledge. This includes:

Personal Information: Contact details (e.g., address, phone number, email) and emergency contact information must be current.

House Details: Including if keys are changed, lockbox or door codes change, or if cameras are installed.

Pet Information: Profiles should be updated with changes in medical conditions, dietary needs, medications, or behavioral concerns.
Note: On Point Pet Sitting is not liable for issues arising from outdated or incomplete profile information.
7. Key and Lockbox
7.1 On Point Pet Sitting requires clients to utilize a lockbox for home access. This ensures reliable and secure entry to care for pets without the risk of misplaced keys or access issues. Lockboxes are the client’s responsibility to purchase, install, and maintain. If a client lives in a building with controlled access or has unique circumstances preventing the use of a lockbox, an alternative key management solution must be discussed and agreed upon in advance.
8. Photography and Media Rights
8.1 You grant On Point Pet Sitting the right to photograph or record videos of your pet(s) and use them in promotional and marketing materials without compensation.
9. Scheduling, Bookings, and Cancellations
9.1 Minimum Notice for Booking: Clients requesting services with less than 48 hours' notice must contact On Point Pet Sitting directly and will be subject to a $10 administrative fee.
9.2 Cancellations: Overnight Clients must provide at least 30 days' notice for overnight service cancellations. While daily services (such as drop ins, walks, etc) require a minimum of 48 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than the appropriate notice will be charged 100% of the total service fee.
9.3 Client Return Notification: The Client agrees to notify On Point Pet Sitting upon returning home following a vacation, confirming the transfer of care. If confirmation is not received by the client, On Point Pet Sitting may perform additional welfare checks or services at the Client’s expense until confirmation is received.
9.4 Travel Fee: Clients outside of St. Albert will incur an additional travel fee of $2 per kilometer (KM) to cover travel costs. This fee is calculated based on the distance from On Point Pet Sitting’s service area.
9.5 Holidays and Peak Demand Periods: Holidays and Peak Demand Periods: A 50% additional charge applies to services provided on the following holidays:

Canada Day (July 1, or July 2 if it falls on a Sunday)

High-demand periods may also be subject to additional fees, which will be communicated at the time of booking.
9.6 Weather Conditions: If weather conditions are deemed unsafe for the Pet Care Provider or the pet(s), services may be modified or postponed. Clients will be notified as soon as possible regarding any changes due to weather conditions.
9.7 Minimum Visit Requirements: To ensure pet safety and well-being, the following minimum visit schedule applies:

All Pets: At least one (1) check-in every 24 hours.

Dogs: A minimum of three (3) visits within a 24-hour period, including feeding, bathroom breaks, exercise, and companionship
Failure to comply with these requirements may result in additional fees or service termination.
9.8 Right to Refuse Service: On Point Pet Sitting reserves the right to refuse service at any time and for any reason without explanation.
10. Reporting Suspected Neglect or Abuse
10.1 Duty to Report: On Point Pet Sitting is committed to animal welfare. If signs of neglect, abuse, or mistreatment are observed, we are legally and ethically obligated to report such findings to the appropriate authorities.
10.2 Signs and Evidence of Neglect or Abuse: Potential indicators of neglect or abuse include, but are not limited to:

Untreated injuries or illnesses

Malnutrition
-
Unsafe living conditions
-
Clear signs of distress in the pet
On Point Pet Sitting will document concerning observations as necessary.
10.3 Client Acknowledgment: By using our services, the Client acknowledges and understands our obligation to report suspected neglect or abuse. On Point Pet Sitting is not liable for any consequences resulting from fulfilling this duty.
11. Insurance, Confidentiality, and Amendments
11.1 Insurance Coverage: On Point Pet Sitting maintains insurance for property and pet care-related claims. Coverage is limited to damages caused by gross negligence.
11.2 Confidentiality and Privacy: Client information is kept confidential and used solely for service purposes. Industry-standard security measures are employed to protect data; however, clients are responsible for securing their Time to Pet account credentials.
11.3 Amendments: On Point Pet Sitting reserves the right to update Terms and Conditions, policies, and pricing at any time. Clients will be notified of significant changes via the Time to Pet system. Continued use of services constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
12. Premises Access
12.1 Clients must notify On Point Pet Sitting in advance of any third-party visits (e.g., contractors, family members) during scheduled service times. This ensures safety and service consistency. On Point Pet Sitting and its individual employees have a right to refuse entry to the premises if they feel unsafe in any way.
13. Outdoor Access
13.1 Pets with outdoor access must have securely enclosed areas to minimize risks. While every effort is made to ensure pet safety, On Point Pet Sitting is not liable for incidents resulting from unsecured outdoor spaces or third-party actions beyond our control.
14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
14.1 Governing Law: This Agreement is governed by the laws of Alberta. Any disputes arising from this Agreement shall be resolved within Alberta’s jurisdiction.
14.2 Dispute Resolution: If a dispute arises, both parties agree to attempt mediation or arbitration before pursuing court action. Each party is responsible for its own legal costs unless otherwise ordered by the mediator or arbitrator.
